Sculpting, Carving, and Modelling, the 3D Arts

I always enjoyed working with modelling clay, blocks, and tinkertoys. That dough made from flour and salt never seemed a good substitute though. But I loved it when in Jr high school they let us work with real clay which was fired in a kiln. I have found that I am better working in three dimensions with things like clay or even carving wood or sculpting hardened plaster more than working with two dimensional arts like drawing and painting.

I think I'd like to learn more about casting items from moulds that I make from my own masters. It might be casting in plaster, ceramic, epoxy resin, other plastics, or even metals like pewter and brass. Pottery whether thrown on a wheel or made from coils or slabs are interesting to me. Ceramics are more interesting of course if I make the moulds, but there is simple pleasure in painting and glazing pieces from other people's moulds.
